This timber sliding sash window was made and fitted by Collins & Hall for a prominent stone bay. The curved head of the central sash follows the arched opening, while the narrow windows at either side complete the shape of the bay.
Work of this kind depends on careful measurement and proportion. The relationship between the sash, frame and existing masonry matters just as much as the individual mouldings and glazing details. Bespoke manufacture allows the new joinery to respond to the building rather than forcing the opening to accept a standard window.
