Bespoke timber windows and doors, made in Yorkshire
Welcome to Collins & Hall
We design and make bespoke timber windows in our own workshop in Netherton, near Huddersfield. Our timber doors are made there too, with every item designed for the building rather than taken from a standard range.
Whether you need one wooden window or entrance door replaced, or new joinery throughout a complete property, we can manage the design, manufacture, finishing and fitting. We work mainly across Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and the surrounding region, travelling further for suitable projects.

Made for your home—not taken from a standard range
Every Collins & Hall window and door is made to order. We can reproduce the proportions and details of existing joinery, work from architects’ drawings or help you develop a new design.
Mouldings, glazing bars, frame profiles, hardware, colour and finish can all be chosen to suit the age and character of the property. Because we make and finish the joinery ourselves, we retain control of the details from the first drawings to the completed installation.
Timber windows
We make traditional and contemporary wooden windows for properties of every age. The main styles include flush casement, storm-proof casement, vertical sliding sash and tilt-and-turn windows. Each one is made to measure, with glazing, hardware, colour and architectural details chosen for the building.
Timber doors
Our wooden doors include front doors, French doors and bi-fold doors, made as complete door-and-frame sets. Size, proportions, panels, glazing, hardware and colour can all be tailored to the property. We can develop a new design or reproduce details from existing joinery.
Specialists in period, listed and conservation properties
Replacing windows or doors in an older building requires care. Proportions, mouldings, glazing and materials all contribute to its character, while listed properties may be subject to additional consent requirements.
We have guided many customers through Listed Building Consent. We can gather the necessary information, prepare and submit drawings and supporting documents, manage the application and communicate with the relevant conservation or planning officers. Our aim is to find the best workable solution for both the building and its owner, although the final decision always rests with the local authority.
Our approach to listed buildings
From our workshop to your home
We manage the work throughout, so you are not passed between a salesperson, an outside manufacturer and an unrelated fitting company.
Advice and design
We take time to understand the property, what you want to achieve and any planning or conservation requirements that may apply.
Bespoke manufacture
Your timber windows and wooden doors are made by skilled joiners in our Netherton workshop, with close attention to construction, proportions and detail.
Workshop finishing
We normally spray-finish the joinery in our own workshop using Teknos water-based coatings. A wide choice of colours is available, including matches to Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, British Standard and other colour ranges.
Carefully managed installation
Installation is completed by our employees and trusted regular subcontract fitters, working under Collins & Hall’s direction. We plan the work carefully and aim to keep disruption to your home to a minimum.
Why we use Accoya
Most of our windows and doors are made from Accoya timber. We choose it for its stability, durability and resistance to rot—qualities that help finished joinery cope with changing weather and continue to open and close correctly.
Accoya is made from timber sourced from certified, responsibly managed forests. For qualifying above-ground applications, the manufacturer provides a 50-year warranty against rot and decay, subject to its terms and conditions. We can also use other FSC-certified timbers where they are better suited to the design or the customer’s requirements.
