Bespoke timber French doors
French doors use two opening leaves to provide generous access and bring more light and a clearer view into a room. They can suit traditional and contemporary properties, but their success depends on the proportions and details being right for the opening.
We make wooden French doors and their frame together in our Netherton workshop. The pair can open inwards or outwards where the building and surrounding space allow, with the active and secondary leaves arranged to suit everyday use.
Designed as part of the building
Overall width, leaf proportions, glazing layout, glazing bars, lower panels, frame mouldings and adjacent windows or fanlights can all be tailored. We can match existing joinery or develop a new design that relates naturally to the room and elevation.
Threshold design, weather sealing, exposure, drainage, security and hardware are considered alongside appearance. Low-E double glazing is standard, and we can work with stained-glass specialists where decorative glass is required.
Colour and finishing
Most of our French doors are made from Accoya and spray-finished in our workshop using Teknos coatings. Door leaves and frames can have different colours, and dual-colour internal and external finishes are available at additional cost where required.
