Bespoke timber front doors
A front door is one of the first things people notice about a property, but it also has demanding practical work to do. It needs to fit correctly, resist the weather, provide suitable security and operate reliably while remaining in keeping with the building.
We make each wooden front door and its frame as a complete set. The dimensions and proportions are determined by the opening rather than a standard product size, while panels, mouldings, glazing, sidelights and fanlights can be designed to complement the architecture.
Designed around the details
We can reproduce an existing entrance where its character should be retained, work from an architect’s design or help develop something new. The specification can include decorative or obscured glazing, a suitable threshold, letter plates, knockers, handles, hinges and locking systems.
Coastal Group is our principal hardware supplier, and we also offer products from From The Anvil and other suitable sources. Hardware is chosen for the appearance, exposure, security requirements and construction of the particular door rather than added as an afterthought.
Made and finished in our workshop
Most of our front doors are made from Accoya timber. They are normally spray-finished with a primer and two top coats using Teknos coatings in our own workshop. The door and frame can be different colours, and an internal colour can differ from the external finish where a dual-colour specification is required.
For period or listed properties, we can survey the existing joinery, prepare drawings and supporting information, and manage the Listed Building Consent process where necessary.
