Bespoke timber bi-fold doors

Bi-fold doors use a series of connected leaves that fold and stack to open a large part of an aperture. They can create a strong connection between a room and garden, but there is more to a successful design than simply making the opening as wide as possible.

We design and manufacture wooden bi-fold doors as a complete made-to-measure system. The number and size of panels, direction of travel, position of the everyday access leaf and location of the folded stack are planned around the opening and how the room will be used.

Balancing the view and practical performance

Panel size affects weight, sightlines and the space needed when the doors are stacked. Threshold design, weather exposure, drainage, glazing, seals and hardware also need to work together. We will explain the practical choices rather than promising invisible frames or performance that the design cannot deliver.

Low-E double glazing is standard. Hardware and locking systems are selected to suit the configuration, with Coastal Group as our principal supplier and alternatives used when appropriate.

Workshop manufacture and finishing

Most Collins & Hall bi-fold doors are made from Accoya timber and spray-finished with Teknos coatings in our workshop. A broad choice of colours is available, including different colours for individual components and dual-colour internal and external finishes where specified.
