Timber storm-proof windows

On a storm-proof window, the opening sash overlaps the face of the outer frame rather than sitting flush within it. This detail gives additional protection at the joint and creates a more pronounced external profile.

It can be a practical choice for exposed locations and for properties where this style suits the architecture. It is not automatically the right window for every building: where traditional appearance or conservation requirements are particularly important, a flush casement may be more appropriate. We can explain the difference and help you choose.

Made to suit the building

Our storm-proof wooden windows are made to measure in our Netherton workshop. Size, proportions, opening configuration, mouldings, glazing bars, hardware, glazing and colour can all be adapted to the project rather than selected from a fixed range.

Most are made from Accoya timber, fitted with Low-E double glazing and spray-finished in-house using Teknos coatings. Installation is planned and managed by Collins & Hall.
